For the very first time on February 9th Hillcrest was the host school for a “Maths Feast” event. This is part of a national programme, bringing together the most talented Year 10 mathematicians across the country. Each school enters a team of four students, and they spend the morning doing a variety of challenging, imaginative and demanding mathematical problems and puzzles.
We had thirteen teams taking part at Hillcrest from a variety of schools from around this area.
The girls from Hillcrest were Uswah, Andrea, Sunaina and Zara. They did tremendously well, beating many of the other schools involved, but didn’t quite manage to win overall.
Another team of four had entered a Feast that was held at Oldswinford Hospital School in Stourbridge during the previous week, and had an equally successful time, managing to come third in their competition. The girls involved this time were Annabelle, Shahd, Alisha and Hifza.
Congratulations to all the girls involved. You did the school and yourselves proud, and you got even more outstanding at mathematics through your thinking and discussions on the day!
